• Due to its geographically favorable location in the middle of Western Europe and its excellent links to all transporta- tion modes, Frankfurt Airport can be reached from all major European economic centers in just a few hours.
• Optimal connectivity and intermodal transportation are essential prerequisites for the success of any export-orien- ted economy. Frankfurt Airport ideally enables Germany and the entire region to meet these requirements.
• The demand for airfreight is growing steadily. Thirty per- cent of all goods (in terms of value) transported across national borders already travel by air.
• A large share of highly export-oriented German companies as well as the German and European branches of many large foreign and multinational enterprises have set up branches at or near the airport:
– The European Central Bank would not be in Frankfurt if it weren’t for Frankfurt Airport with its intercontinental connections.
– Because Korean automotive companies and Samsung, the world’s biggest chip manufacturer, have established branches here, Frankfurt and the Rhine-Main region now boast the largest Korean community in Europe and have gained around 5,000 new jobs.
– The international business auditing company KPMG has moved its European headquarters from London to FRA. The options it considered were not “Paris, Munich,
or Berlin” but “Amsterdam Airport versus Frankfurt Airport”.
