2003: September: Zoning documentation submitted for completeness review
2004: November: Zoning documentation submitted for viewing
2005: January/February: Public viewing of the zoning documentation
September: Hearings on the zoning procedure begin.
2006: March: End of zoning procedure hearings
2007: Spring: Required changes to zoning plans submitted December 18: Zoning approval from the govern- ment of Hesse
2008: January 8: Presentation of the zoning approval document to all involved parties
2009: Construction to expand the airport begins (Runway Northwest).
2010: February: Groundbreaking ceremony for the new fire station number 4 at the Runway Northwest June: Pouring of concrete begins for Runway Northwest.
2011: October: Runway Northwest begins operating.
2012: October 10: Pier A-Plus is inaugurated.
2015 April 14: After thoroughly evaluating the need for Terminal 3, the Supervisory Board confirms its decision to move forward with the construction of Terminal 3.
2015 Late 2015: Planned start of work to build Terminal 3 2022 Planned inauguration of Terminal 3
