In terms of cargo volumes, Frankfurt Airport is Europe’s largest airport and ranks among the top 10 worldwide.
About 60% of the airfreight is carried by cargo planes. The other 40% is transported as belly-hold cargo on passenger flights.

Did you know?
• Perishable goods such as fruits, flowers, and seafood are temporarily stored at 20 different temperatures on more than 9,000 square meters of space in the Perishable Center (in CargoCity North).
• Around 2,100 horses, 15,000 pets, and 80 ornamental fish were accommodated in Lufthansa’s Animal Lounge in 2014.
• About 50 Lufthansa employees and 25 veterinarians work in the Lufthansa Animal Lounge.
• Nearly half of the total airfreight volume entering and leaving Germany is handled at FRA.
